Geraldine McAlinden - Bio
Geraldine McAlinden is an Irish Film and Television Academy (IFTA) nominated actress for her Lead role as "Marian" in the multi- award winning Irish Feature" Verdigris". In 2024 she won Best Lead Actress awards for the same role at the Cinema D’iDEA International Festival, Rome sponsored by Women In Film and Television, Italy and the Under My Screen British and Irish Film Festival of Corsica. She has appeared in many leading TV shows such as Coronation Street, Bad Sisters, How to get to Heaven from Belfast, Red Rock, Blood, Bloodlands.
She trained at Bow Street Academy, the National Screen Acting School of Ireland in Dublin with Kirsten Sheridan, Jim Sheridan, Lance Daly, Gerry Grennell, Shimmy Marcus, Dearbhla Walsh, Aisling Walsh, Frank Berry and John Carney and many other leading Irish Directors. She subsequently went on to work with Jim Sheridan, Dearbhla Walsh and Lance Daly.
She has acted alongside Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson, Sharon Horgan, Rooney Mara, Lesley Manville, Eve Best, Claire Rushbrook, Bertie Carvel, Kate Phillps, Roger Allum and Adrian Dunbar.
Geraldine learnt her stagecraft at the renowned Stanislavski Studio at the Focus Theatre in Dublin and developed her comedy chops training with the Actors Comedy Studio, LA, and at the Gaiety School of Acting in Dublin.
Geraldine's performance as Lizzy in the Irish Independent feature Portrait of a Zombie also led to her being long listed for an IFTA award for Best Lead Actress in Film Actress in 2013.
She also directs, writes and produces for screen and theatre. Her tiny play "Knowing" was published and produced by Fishamble's Tiny Plays for Ireland in 2013.
She has a First Class Masters Degree in Screenwriting for Film and Television from the Ireland's National Film School at IADT. Geraldine is currently developing her feature film "Slippery Slope" (selected for the Wild Atlantic Pitching Competition at the Galway Film Fleadh in 2023), her TV Pilot "All the President's Girls" and a legal dramedy based on her experience working as a lawyer in her previous life.
She is a founding member of Alchemy 8 Productions and a member of The Writers Guild Of Ireland, Women in Film & Television Ireland and Screen Ireland's X-Pollinator Scheme.
