Liane Whelan is an award-winning ballet educator and accomplished performer with over 15 years of on stage experience and in the studio. A career highlight includes performing in New York City alongside Prima Ballerina Monica Loughman and Aran Bell, now a Principal Dancer with American Ballet Theatre.
Liane was a distinguished member of the Monica Loughman Elite Ballet Company, where she performed as a soloist and served as a company teacher. She toured extensively throughout Ireland, performing leading and soloist roles in productions including The Nutcracker, La Sylphide, Giselle, Swan Lake, Prima Donna and Master of Opera.
A qualified member of the International Council of Dance, Liane also holds a Ballet Barre Instructor qualification from Complete Body Movement and is a certified Progressing Ballet Technique teacher. She previously taught with Platform Pilates, including presenting at WellFest in 2019.
Since 2019, Liane has served as a judge with the Irish National Ballet Competition. In 2025, she was nominated for Dance Educator of the Year and Dance Advocate of the Year at the Dance Awards Ireland, proudly winning the Dance Advocate of the Year award in recognition of her contribution to dance education in Ireland.
As a sought-after freelance guest teacher, Liane works with respected institutions including Daisy School of Ballet, The Dublin Ballet Academy, and Phoenix Theatre Arts.
Committed to continual professional development, Liane is currently completing advanced CPD training with the Royal Ballet School in London. In 2025, she completed intensive study in Allegro, Barre, and Centre Work, with further advanced training continuing into 2026.
